Publishing makes your current agent draft live in the connected channels, such as Teams or a website. Until you publish, real users keep seeing the previous version. The test pane inside Copilot Studio always shows your latest saved edits, published or not. Publishing is not instant everywhere: channels receive the update with a delay. Existing chat sessions can keep running on the old version.
